Purbeck Limestone Certificate of Test Determination of skid resistance
Certificate NO: T5528/14367
Batch No: 604293
Sampled By/Date: Client/not advised
Date Received: 24.4.96
Date Tested: 25.4.96
Tested by: Stats Laboratory Services, Potterswood House, Potters Wood, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 6PQ
Ref: JI/BJHMethods of test
The samples were tested to determine their resistance to skidding using the portable TRRL skid resistance test apparatus following methods given in BS 6677:1986 Clay and Calcium Silicate Pavers for Flexible Pavements, Part1: Specification for pavers, Appendix E: Determination of Skid Resistance Value, the test surfaces being wetted prior to testing.
Currently there are no minimum limits for skidding resistance, higher values indicating higher skidding resistance. The former greater London Council produced a report on Pedestrian Safety which came up with the classification given below. For comparative purposes a range of stone types and their performance is also given.
